To have been long enough into the dating scenario I wasn’t one of the quirky men who had any trouble getting a date. But obviously it was more like keeping the right one. Women unlike men have the strangest fascination for rocks and trinkets and with them mixed and match at varied degrees. If you are likely to woo someone with a ring but not sure where the relationship stands then obviously go for a cheap one. Make sure its fanciful enough or matches with her favorite color or the dress she wears more often. Got a tawny shade of diamond turned purple? Yeah, dude, go on for it! Just make sure that you got a silly thing turned lavender because you know its her favorite perfume or bath oil or reminds of her nursery girl friend who was called Lavender or whatever or something!!!! Well, women do get sentimental about such things though I don’t know myself why. Don’t ask me any further. Just make sure that you have your homework done right and know what her favorite color or perfume is. Knowing a bit of memories also help. Women can get very sentimental about dates and occasions like that. So make a note of those when you want to be successful in a relationship. She would never forgive you for not bringing her roses on Rose Day or wishing her on Women’s Day or the first date you had together or even remembering her cat’s death day for that matter! So do your share of hard work. And if you forget a date here and there, there is nothing better than a tinted diamond ring that is otherwise on the lower end of the price list.

So be there and get your goodies working all right. Make sure you have the right engagement ring when you seriously propose someone. No tinting there I mean! Engagement Rings Disaster!

I have had one of the wackiest experiences trying to persuade a girlfriend. I did the dreadful mistake of proposing her with a rather cheap diamond ring that was modified into a glittering violet hue. Its not that my mindset was cheap or something. But really guys that was a tough time in my life and I was one desperate soul for love. So I had fallen for this awesome girl head-over-heels, literally. But woe to my woes I had no idea of her rich taste. She had a plush job and a very solid family to back her up as well. You can consider how desperate I was that I did all I could do please her, spending more thoughts and energy onto her when I should have been looking for a new job. My biggest mistake was this cheap imitation. She was all turned over to have received my munificence. But a lady of her world knowledge soon found out what the real thing was. The ring was tossed out of the window along with me!!!!

Well, quite literally you see! Bringing the woman you wanna woo a fake scenario is as best as ruining your relationship fast or cutting its life shorter than expected. This was one of the biggest dating lessons of my life. Within a couple days of being dumped I started looking for a new job and with that my worn out mind also revamped. So in life or love or any aspect it is the wisest to call a spade a spade If you are low on cash then go for the cheaper white ones or even the brownish ones but don’t pretend to give something you know isn’t what it looks to be. If you are going for a imitated one tell her it is so, and to wait for the better one until you are not so strapped for cash! Trust me guys, youâ€™ll be appreciated for life better even if the date doesn’t work out. So, no more shilly shallying or color imitation. You can go for cheaper gold’s or even gorgeous looking American diamond studs than going to make her believe that this is the next best thing you could get for her when all it would sometime do is turn her finger green or purple as the color would begin to wear off!

Wedding Rings - Weight

It wasn't a disaster, but it could have been. I've been somewhat troubled by water retention, particularly during some times of the month. I wasn't really thinking ahead when I did my ring sizing for my wedding rings. Since Zach had asked my Mom for my ring size weeks earlier and when he actually proposed, he presented me with a beautiful diamond solitaire in just the right size.

Things got really hectic with all the wedding planning and fittings and everything so I guess I lost a little more weight than I realized, because when I went in for my final wedding dress fitting, It was too big, The alterations crew at the bridal shop said it wasn't unusual to lose some weight due to stress. Anyway, they went to work and did the necessary alterations which were finished three days before the wedding date.

When I started getting ready the morning of the wedding, I found my wedding dress was again too big. I knew it had been altered once, so didn't understand why it was still too big. Fortunately the wedding planner was prepared for everything and she quickly made some discreet adjustments so that the fit was okay. I did feel just a little bit basted together, but no one else could tell.

Everything went fine during the ceremony until just after we had exchanged rings. I noticed that my wedding rings were really loose. I looked at them rather stupidly, I'm sure and thought either the best man was playing a rather insensitive prank on Zach, or that Zach had put HIS ring on my finger. But his ring fit him perfectly, so I knew that couldn't be the problem.

At this point, I tried to collect myself and pretend that nothing had happened, resolving that even if the best man was also Zach's brother, I was going to kill him right after the honeymoon. The minister said "You may kiss the bride" and I handed my bouquet to my maid of honor and started to put my hands up to Zach's shoulder quickly. Too quickly, as it turned out, because the ring was so loose it went flying off in the general direction of my mother sitting in the front pew.

Before it was found and returned, the ring bearer and three of my bridesmaids were down on the floor looking for the ring. Thank goodness that the wedding planner had that covered too. For the entire reception I wore a piece of rubber band wrapped around the inside of the ring to hold it in place.

It turned out, when I weighed myself, I had lost about 20 pounds in the course of a month. So, my advice is to make sure that you do a double check on ring sizes before the wedding ceremony.

Every time my Mother goes shopping for diamond earrings, I know that there will be a new fireworks display at their next dinner party. My mother loved to dress up and look real pretty by putting diamonds in her ears and wearing some on her hands and wrist occasionally. The sparkling brilliance that came from those gems seemed to make the fireworks celebrations shown on the 4^th of July a rather dull event.

Dad loved the admiring glances that Mother would get from the crowds. He felt that the diamond earrings were a good investment and made it seem like he made wise decisions at work that could afford such nice accessories. Mother knew where to buy wholesale diamonds at a great price. This knowledge made all the fine purchases that she made each month possible on the meager household allowance she got each month.

It seems that my Mom had a better business sense than Dad did at times, and she frugally saved money on everything she bought. Mother got to buy her diamond earrings because she used coupons to buy everything. Right down to the fireworks that we bought for holidays and those parties held at the house. Yes, every time my mother came into the room, there was a certain hush among the guests. They could not wait to see which diamonds were in place on her arms, legs and especially around her neck.

The clustered rings on two fingers shone like sparklers all the time. The solitaire diamond ring on her left hand seemed to glow like a roman rocket. The diamond earrings Mother wore only on special occasions, were a fireworks display all on their own because Mother said the carat count was 7.5. My father never questioned Mother about the cost of such things, because he knew how hard she saved to buy everything they used. He also knew that if he pressured her too greatly, that there was certain to be a major fireworks display followed by heated discussion when they were in their bedroom that evening.

Diamond Bracelets - Irma's Estate

She wasn't actually my friend, she was Grandma's childhood friend, but they had kept in touch even after both grew up, married and Grandma had my dad and my aunt. Irma married, but she never was able to have children. My dad always sort of looked out for Grandma Irma, as I called her, after her husband passed away. I would go along with him when he visited her. It always happened at least once weekly. While he spent a few minutes tightening the hinges on her door, or checking the filter on her furnace, I would get milk and cookies and visit with Irma.

It wasn't a case of those things necessarily needing to be done. In fact, the hinges on the door seemed to loosen about every 2-3 weeks. Dad knew of course, that Irma was well able to fix the door by herself. He also knew she was too proud to admit she wanted the company, and Dad was sensitive enough to let her think that he just was going to keep adjusting that hinge or water faucet drip until he got it right.

Anyway, I must have been about six or seven when Irma first showed me her collection of diamond bracelets. She had dozens of them in various styles and she had stories to tell about things that had happened to her when she was wearing each one. It seems that her husband had presented her with a diamond bracelet for each year of their married life. I heard these stories while Dad was trying once again to fix the drip in the bathroom sink.

I used to see Irma wearing one or sometimes two of the bracelets each time I came to see her after that. She would always tell me stories about them. As she got older, I noticed that some of the stories about a particular bracelet were repeated, and I often wondered whether she forgot that she told me that story before, or whether she had confused the diamond bracelets that she had. I'm 60 years old and just accepted a proposal of marriage from a gentleman who is 65. I feel like a kid again. Paul had worn a plain band as a wedding ring, but I noticed he had quietly taken it off about a month or so earlier. We browsed through the jeweler's selection at the mall for more than an hour, but nothing seemed right. They were nice rings, but they just didn't speak to me the way I had hoped. The jeweler was watching the two of us dithering about what to do and said he had a suggestion. He sent us to an antique store across town that had a nice selection of antique jewelry. There I was able to find my perfect engagement ring with a style reminiscent of the 40's. In fact, the gemologist's report said the diamond ring was made in the year I was born. Paul laughed when he put it on my finger and said something about an 'antique for an antique'. Of course he was laughing when he said it. Oh, by the way, we were able to find a man's ring which featured a ruby set in antique gold which was a perfect engagement ring for Paul. Yes, we're modern enough to follow the modern custom of a man's engagement ring.
